The Community Music Network, Inc. is an all ages, all access community music organization serving the Western Catskill Mountains of upstate New York since 2005.
We also seek to connect community music facilitators and prospective clients throughout the US and globally via a network registration and locator portal that will be available at www.communitymusicnetwork.org (under construction). The organization received 501c3 non profit status during the pandemic of 2020.
We offer private lessons in voice, piano, woodwinds, guitar, drums, theory, songwriting, and music competency, community music facilitation, early childhood parent/child and preschool classes, after school music programs, and a summer jam camp.
In addition, we provide musical outreach services to special needs populations and those residing in economically challenged and geographically isolated areas, as well as arts in education support for local school districts, home schooled, and preschool students.
Founder/Director Pamela West-Finkle has been a licensed provider of the award-winning, research-based, internationally acclaimed Music Together® program since 2002. We also offer Music Together in-school, preschool, outreach, intergenerational programs and custom designed therapeutic music for nursing homes, hospice, hospitals, and assisted living centers. Research shows that the most important time to begin musical training is in early childhood. Music is processed in the brain like a language, so the best time to start working on the basic skills necessary for more advanced musical instruction later in life is from birth to age seven. In addition, children who are actively engaged in singing, dancing, finger play, chants, and rhythm instrument play also experience significant gains in the areas of cognitive (intelligence), language, physical, social, and emotional development.
In this early childhood music program, parents and caregivers learn how to be musical with their children, modeling active music making or "musiking" skills while children develop basic tonal and rhythmic skills through active musical play that will provide a foundation for future musical experiences, whether that be formal lessons or simply a lifelong joy of competent participation in the music of their culture and community.
This class is a great way to spend quality time with your child or family while also socializing with other parents/caregivers and children in the community. The social bonding power of a mixed age family music class also creates lasting friendships, in addition to enhancing your family's quality of life through joyful music play. Many parents have agreed that the class provides therapeutic exercise and stress relief as well!
No previous experience in music is necessary, and many parents and caregivers who lack basic music skills (the ability to sing in tune and keep a beat) find that their own abilities improve over time.

Robynwood Assisted Living Home is hosting an inter-generational Music Together mixed age family class every Thursday at 10:00 am in the downstairs activity/dining room.
